Last day of the Month a 72 NM ahead of us so we planned an early push off 8:00. Mother nature had a wrench to throw into our day “Dense Fog Advisory” and it was dense. By nine we could see 200 – 300 yards so we set out of the Marina knowing we had 15 miles of slow river channels before we could crank the speed anyway, and surely the fog would lift. Not today, the dense fog was in and out all morning including out at sea and did not fully clear till 12:45. While this was not the first fog challenge we have faced it was the longest lasting. Of course we had “pushed on” expecting an early break we found ourselves beyond the point of return and almost Zero visibility….Mike decided time to dust off our Radar training and “WOW” we now have another powerful trusted Navigation tool that we are confident in its use and function. Another reason why this is called an adventure not a vacation. Once the Fog broke we were at open sea and again thanks to having this great and fast boat we ripped it and arrived at our destination about 2:15, fueled, docked and had a nice walk and a cold beer on the pier. Pictures of below.
The other great part of this day is that finally we are in reliably warm, sunny weather and it feels great.
I commented in yesterdays blog that I sometimes forget some of the facts of the day and later go back and add them to a previous blog page. I wanted to especially say give a shout out to my Grandson Roman who turned “8” last Thursday January 26th and I facetimed him before school to personally wish him a special day. Also a big Thank You to my Grand Daughter Luna who unexpectedly told her dad she wanted to call her Poppy last Sunday before she went to Church. What a wonderful surprise for me and she was very excited to show me her new Top Golf Golf Clubs. I also was able to see and talk to Hamilton dressed in his blazer for church looking very sharp.
That sounds better than the widow makers falling in this ice back in the Mid-South. Maybe I’ll meet y’all in Key Largo in a few days.
We are in Sanibel till Monday then off to Calusa Island Marco Island. We are staying there for 14 Days.
Then to the Keys after the 20th of February.
See you there?
Thanks for following us.
