Day 11-13 ItsAboutTime; Day 11, In Port of Shalimar, Two Georges Marina (NCHM Board Meeting Via teams). Day 12, Morning in Port (State of Arkansas Science and Technology Board Meeting Via Teams). Day 12, PM to Panama City, Florida Point South Marina at Bay Point. Day 13, In Port Point South Marina

Today is Saturday January 21, 2023 and we have chosen to remain in Port till Monday morning primarily because of weather (heavy rain) and we hope to sail to Apaochicola, on Monday and start preparing for our big jump across the Gulf of Mexico late next week weather permitting which looks promising next Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Some housekeeping for those of you regularly following our blog: 1. I am very pleased and flattered with your positive comments regarding my blog. So you all know this blog is also my Captains log. I am covering the details in a way that will remind me later why they refer to this trip as an adventure and not a vacation. Everyday we are faced with challenges that it takes both Mike and I together to overcome, we will report on them even when the outcomes are not ideal. So for my Captains log I will be going back and editing previous logs with important (to me) memories that I may recall after the fact and need to be added for my historical relevance.

I am hoping to find a way for our readers to 1. Be able access archived blogs and 2. A. way to identify when a previous blog has been edited.

Now Back to day 11 we remained in port at Two Georges Marine which for us was not as transient friendly as we had hoped. No Laundry, restaurants a bit of a walk and by my measure they were class “C” level.

Hence we were happy to move on Day 12 (Friday) afternoon after taking care of Board business. We departed about 12:00 and with 53 NM (Nautical Miles) to travel (at our economical 9 Kts) we would not arrive till after dark (that’s a none starter for us). So we made the decision burn fuel not sunlight and went out of the ICW to the Ocean cranked her up to 23 Kts and before we could say $175.00 of fuel we were arriving at Panama City Beach and Point South Marine about 3:15 with Mike the lead Captain we had another Bow in first dock and used our Shore Power extension for a second time. (That investment is paying off early in our trip)

This is a private gated Community for owners of Large Boats who like to play Golf. As guests in the Marina we have full privilege’s at the Yacht Club where we were invited to all happy hour Friday 5:30-7:30 all you can eat and drink for $15.00 dollars. A short walk on the pier to the Yacht Club there must have been 60 Members and there were 16 of us Loopers as guests. We were captured in our first Looper group picture.

Pretty cool. Tonight we are walking to dinner at the Club restaurant and “Tides” reservations for 6:00.

I did a load of laundry this morning went over about 6:30 am and Mike is doing laundry this afternoon. Been over 50 years since Saturday was laundry day in my life. Even before I was blessed with Christine in my life I had drop off bachelor service. Just in case Christine reads this I do want to make sure we understand that at my advanced age this skill will surely be forgotten before I return home from the adventure.
