Day 18, Thursday January 26, 2023 on the last Picture in the Day 17 post Day I wrote “with a sun like this, time to push Off”. So that’s exactly what we did. Apalachicola to Carrabelle, Fl. 29 NM.

We had two other Looper Boats Share the Ice House Dock with us Wednesday night Chris and Erin on BareFeet, Randy and Anita on Drifter; both boats pushed off before us. Barefeet heading to Dog island to Anchor out Thursday and Drifter was heading to C-Quarters in Carrabelle. ItsAboutTime pushed off for The Moorings Carrabelle.

Mike was primary Captain, easy trip in the ICW combination open water and narrow channels we arrived the Moorings about 2:00. Mike with shoe horn precision snugged us up to the fuel dock for fuel and pump out than off to the slip. After a struggle Mike turned the helm over and I docked us for the night. Our Plan was two nights and then cross the Gulf Saturday. Ran into our fellow Loopers Randy and Anita (Drifter) and Randy convincingly assured us Friday was the best day to cross the Gulf and he being much more experienced we liked the plan and decided to follow.

After securing our boat and rinsing her down to cut the salt brine on the stern and not to waste the afternoon and evening we took a walk to the Hardware store (buy power strip) and Harrys Bar to enjoy a local (Oyster Bay microbrew) draught with the locals. Later back at the boat we order local hand made pizza from SOPCHOPPY PIZZA for pick-up which I walked and brought back. This local pizza was one of the best pizza I’ve eaten in years (Bills Pizza Aside of course).

Making good speed and time.
Great day on the water
War Memorial in Carrabelle with miniature’s.
Harry’s Bar on the outside not very welcoming and especially not so when we inadvertently walked in the door to the Billiards room and were quickly turned out and clearly not welcome then pointed down the two doors.
Harry’s Bar on the inside very welcoming and there Mike was with the locals.
Great Pizza Pick Up
Good Plan for Hurricane
Famous Landmark in Carrabelle
