Happy Thursday and back to our Day 3 Post which was delayed until today Thursday January 12. We have stayed 2 nights here at King Fisher Marina in Demopolis, Alabama. Today mid-day storms and Tornado warnings but is beautiful now I put on shorts and t-Shirt took a walk and worked on the NCHM financials.
Yesterday started with a bit of a pucker moment when I (at the Helm) leaving Columbus Marina stayed straight when I should have turned left and ran aground just outside the Marina. Fortunately the harbor master talked me back to the marina and that delayed us about 30 minutes. There are two kinds of captains those who run aground and those that lie about it.
We ran 102 nautical miles yesterday and 3 locks and while we are still learning a lot we have locks nailed perfect been through 10 so far in 3 days and only two more till we get to Mobile Bay.
While we stayed in port Thursday we called to have a mechanic come onboard for 3 issues Nave Bulb, Engine Bilge not operating and The Owners Shower was slow drain.
The mechanic had no replacement bulbs, got the bilge with separate power source to operate but diagnosed the the float switch was bad and using a pressure hose seems to fixed the shower drain and $70.00 later we are going to need to find another mechanic down stream.
Thanks for posting these.
Scary that you ran aground, hopefully the boat is OK.
Thanks for the updates. Like the pictures and captions for us who are not sea worthy.
